  • Lucretia is a semi-legendary figure from ancient Roman history. Apparently, her rape and subsequent suicide were the catalysts for the rebellion that ended the Roman monarchy and began the Republic. The story has been immortalized in many paintings, sculptures, operas, poems and plays.
